Primary Logo

The primary shield logo is to be used on all printed materials including, but not limited to: brochures, flyers, ads, direct-mail pieces, booklets, newsletters, posters, postcards, Web site.

When the University logo is used, the single-line promise must also be used and should appear centered below the logo. The promise line should never be retypeset. Only in some cases should the logo appear without the promise line (see secondary logos, letterheads). Please contact University Marketing & Communications for approval if you see the need to use the logo alone.

Secondary Logos

Horizontal Logo

In applications in which the integrity of the primary logo would be degraded due to limitations of size, process, or quality standards, it is recommended that the horizontal version of the logo be used. The horizontal version should never appear smaller than 1.5" wide. The promise line need not be used with this horizontal version.

Prior approval from University Marketing & Communications is required.

Wordmark Logo

In applications in which the integrity of the horizontal logo would be degraded due to limitations of size, process, or quality standards, it is recommended that the wordmark version of the logo be used. The wordmark should only appear in black or white (reversed) and should never appear smaller than 5/8" wide.

Prior approval from University Marketing & Communications is required.

Logo Size Restrictions

A "safe area" should always exist around the logo to allow for maximum legibility. No elements such as typography, other logos, or graphics should intrude into the safe area. A shadow should never be applied to the logo. The safe area is equal to 1/4".

The promise line should appear centered directly under the shield (1/8" minimum distance) and should never appear smaller than 1.25" wide.
