Alessandro Lagioia completed his doctorate in History and Civilizations in Late Antiquity and Early Middle Ages at the University of Bari (Italy). In 2007, he was appointed Research Fellow at the same university, and is involved in projects related to critical editions of unpublished manuscripts of Medieval Commentaries on Classical authors. Currently he is involved as member and Research Fellow (three-year appointment) in the FIRB Project 2010-17 "Sacred Spaces and Identity Paths. Foundation Texts, Iconography, Religion and Tradition in Italian Christian Sanctuaries from Late Antiquity to Middle Ages." He is working on the hagiographical tradition concerning Saint Michael the Archangel.
