Technology Roadmap


Your roadmap to Orientation is complete, but there is more scenery to take in before starting your academic journey at Loyola. Learn about Office 365 a fully integrated suite of programs that includes e-mail and Microsoft Office. Take the time to casually tour with Sakai, your dashboard to your classes.  Visit roadside wonders like Digital Media Services to discover equipment, training, and services available to all students.  Tour the additional information from the University Information Security Office and from Campus Safety making sure you are safe anywhere anytime!

  • Download Microsoft Office 365 on up to five PCs or Macs, five tables and five phones.
  • Access full mobile versions of Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote.

  • Digital Media Services (DMS) provides support to a number of technology resources for the Loyola Community. From video production equipment to large format poster printing, from multimedia lab locations and software to online applications and resources, we are dedicated to promoting success inside and outside of the classroom.
    • DMS maintains over 30 computer lab and kiosk locations across the Lakeshore and Water Tower campuses. These locations range from open-access spaces, high traffic kiosk locations, to shared departmental only locations.
    • Here is our current list of software applications in our computer labs.
    • The Equipment Loan Program (ELP) encourages students to discover new technologies.
    • DMS offers poster printing capabilities to students for research presentations, student projects and other academic purposes.
  • Digital Media Services (video)


  • Sakai is a community source system for collaboration, also known as a Collaborative Learning Environment (CLE). IT can be used for LUC courses, research projects, student clubs, or any other group that has information they want to share with the larger LUC community.
  • Sakai includes course sites and project sites.
    • Students are assigned to course sites in Sakai via LOCUS.
    • Project sites can be created by faculty, staff, or students.

  • Adobe Connect is a web conferencing application that can be used to hold online class sessions or meetings. Adobe Connect allows hosts to interact with participants using audio, video, chat, and polls. Click here for student resources on Adobe Connect and remember:
    • Click here to run Adobe Connect Diagnostic test using the device and Internet connection you plan to use during the meeting.
    • Connect all audio and video devices to your computer prior to opening the Adobe Connect room.
    • Use the recommended browser (Mozilla Firefox) to connect to the meeting room.
