2012 Think Green and Give

Results are in!  All items are donated to those in need and diverted from a landfill.

  • 3,607 pounds of unwanted gently used clothing and small household items donated
  • 2,624 items of nonperishable, unopened food and toiletries donated

2011 Think Green and Give

Results:  3,528 lbs of clothing and household goods diverted the landfill and will be reused as intended!

Most frequently expressed observation by student volunteers that helped sort and record donated items: "Why so much stuff?"  

Donated food items are tallied and we do not total the weights as the packages come in many different sizes. Results

2010 Think Green and Give

From May 5 to May 8th, Loyola students took action and donated appropriate unwanted items to America's Disabled and local food pantries as part of the 2010 charitable collection event. 

In order to track how much Think Green and Give is diverting from landfills, an amazing crew of student spent many hours collecting, sorting and recording donated items. 

2010 Summary and Results

  • Held during finals (spring move-out)
  • Collection bins available 24 hours per day for four days at three locations
  • 2,062 pounds of clothing and small household items were donated
  • 192 canned food items donated
  • 462 dried food items donated
  • 161 miscellaneous toiletries donated
