Environmental Sustainability Asset Mapping
What is your campus doing with regards to sustainability initiatives?
Goal: Can we develop a set of guidelines on sustainability for AJCU members? What would these guidelines be? What are the AJCUs collectively doing to address environmental issues and environmental justice? Can we develop an overarching sustainability plan for all 28 AJCUs?
Brief Workshop Description: Faculty appointed by the Provosts of each of the six Midwestern AJCUs will present the asset map of their campus sustainability initiatives including everything from student organizations, and community outreach projects, to a University Sustainability Plan, LEED certified buildings, facility upgrades, energy and materials efficiency programs, water conservation programs, to faculty research, courses, academic programs and future plans in environmental sustainability. Following the presentations, there will be open discussion. Faculty, staff and students from all 28 AJCUs are welcome and encouraged to participate, and will have an opportunity to share their ideas and campus projects during this open discussion period.
Thank you to these universities for sharing their Asset Maps! If you presented an asset map that you would like to share on this page, e-mail Shanna Yetman.

To learn what the AJCUs are offering students in formal academic settings that raises awareness and intellectual capacity on environmental issues. An aspirational outcome is to share courses (perhaps through online offerings, or student exchanges) so that students at one university that are majoring in environmental studies/sciences can broaden their course options by selecting courses from other AJCUs.

Brief Workshop Description:
This “action” workshop is open to participants representing the 28 AJCU schools only. Faculty appointed by the Provosts of each of the six Midwestern AJCUs will present the academic programming (including individual courses, concentrations, minors, majors, Master’s and PhD programs) they are currently offering in Environmental Sustainability which is broadly defined to include courses and programs whose primary focus is on environmental science/studies from the perspectives of ANY DISCIPLINE.
These will be oral presentations up to ten minutes each given by each of the six Midwestern AJCU representatives, and each presenter should bring 25 copies of their curricular information in hard copy form to share with participants. Participants from all 28 AJCUs are encouraged to participate, and will have an opportunity to share their Environmental Sustainability curricula during the open discussion period following the six formal presentations
