History of Loyola and Lollapalooza partnership:

Since 2016, Loyola has partnered with C3 Presents, the organizers of the four-day music festival in Grant Park to support sustainability efforts. The Lollapalooza Music Festival wanted to minimize its environmental impact by diverting waste from landfills. Students were hired to staff “Divert-It Teams”. The Divert It! team is key to the success of the front-of-house composting system during the festival. This team has specialized duties at assigned stations, such as helping patrons put their waste, recyclables, and compostables in the correct bins and educating fans about the Festival's environmental initiatives. This opportunity allows Loyola students to help out with the recycling and composting efforts underway during the event and get access to the festival. Additional sustainability efforts as part of the Loyola-palooza partnership include advising C3 on additional waste reduction and diversion strategies, overall sustainability messaging and outreach, and Chainlinks LUC. Chainlinks is Loyola’s student-run bike-shop and it is on site for the four days to support visitors to the festival travelling by bike with basic supplies and repairs.
