Linda Kurtos, JD and MS

About

Linda Kurtos is the Director of Graduate and Certificate Programs in the School of Environmental Sustainability. Prior to joining Loyola University Chicago in 2017, Kurtos served as the Sustainability Director for the University of Notre Dame, where she developed the University’s first comprehensive sustainability strategy and guided the University to its first AASHE STARS gold rating. Previously, Kurtos worked in a number of sustainability policy, law and education areas, including developing and instructing an on-line climate change policy certificate course at Northwestern University and teaching sustainability classes at local community colleges. She also worked with the Environmental Law & Policy Center to help shape renewable energy policies in the City of Chicago Climate Action Plan. 

Kurtos served as Articles Editor on the Journal of Criminal Law and Criminology during her time at the Northwestern School of Law. As a litigator in major Chicago law firms, she managed large caseloads focused on state and federal environmental, energy, toxic tort, and business matters, and prepared arguments to the United States Supreme Court, United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, federal district courts, and Illinois circuit and Supreme courts. 

Kurtos is a Professional Energy Manager, LEED Green Associate and certified in GRI Sustainability Reporting.

Research Interests

Kurtos's research interests are related to climate change, sustainability, environmental law and policy, and renewable energy.
