Don’t Miss Your Chance to Study Abroad in Jerusalem This January!
This January, push yourself out of your comfort zone and see the world as you have never seen it before on the J-term faculty-led study abroad program in Jerusalem, Israel. The deadline to apply is this Saturday, October 15! Led by Loyola Professor Dr. Wily Feinstein, the 11-day trip gives students the opportunity to learn about Israeli literature and culture while living in and exploring the city of Jerusalem.
The program course (LITR 280: World Literature-The Literature and Culture of Israel) is three credit hours and fulfills the Tier II Literary core requirement and also count as an elective for Global and International Studies Majors and Minors. Participants will study the Hebrew Bible and key works of modern Israeli literature at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. The course material is enhanced by visits to historic sites and two of Israel’s most important museums- The Israel Museum and Yad Vashem: The International Museum of the Holocaust.
The program is set to take place January 2- January 12, 2017. On the first full day in Jerusalem, students will take a tour of the historic Old City followed by a group dinner in the evening. During the Friday night and Saturday of the program, a special Jewish Sabbath will be organized where students can experience the character and traditions of this Jewish holiday. The following Sunday will include a tour of south Jerusalem to the Dead Sea, the Masada mountain top, and other historical sites.
