Featured Scholarships

 Explore the World Travel Scholarship

  • Eligibility
    • Be a current Pell Grant recipient, former Pell Grant recipient, or have a current income level does not exceed 300% of poverty line
    • Must live in one of the following metropolitan areas (see website for list)
    • Have a strong desire and motivation to experience other people and cultures through international travel
    • Plan on travelling abroad within the next 6 months that incorporates volunteerism or service learning

Gilman Scholarship

Loyola University Chicago students are eligible to receive a Gilman Incentive Grant (GIG)

  • Eligibility
    • Be a citizen of the United States
    • Must be receiving a Federal Pell Grant
    • Must be studying in host country for at least 4 consecutive weeks

Boren Scholarship

  • Eligibility
    • Must be applying to a program outside of Western Europe, Canada, Australia, or New Zealand
    • Summer Sessions are limited to Engineering and Science Majors
    • Must agree to the NSEP service agreement

    • Semester: Up to $10,000

Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) Foundation Scholarship

  • Eligibility
    • Full-time undergraduates or graduate students
    • Majoring in a STEM or Health field of study
    • Minimum 2.75 GPA
    • Exhibit leadership skills and are involved in community service activities
    • Qualified applicants must be African-American or black students
    • Live or go to school in a CBC Member district
    • Demonstrate financial need
  • Award: $2,000

Asia


Academy of International Business- Southeast (AIBSE) and The Asia Institute Joint Scholarship

  • Eligibility
    • Must be an International Business major
    • Application must be submitted jointly with student and faculty advisor
    • Participate in any of the following program types
      • Short-term faculty-led program (10 days – 8 weeks)
      • Semester or full year study abroad program
      • International internship (6 weeks minimum)
      • International scholarly research (4 weeks minimum)
  • Award: $1,000

Freeman- ASIA

  • Eligibility
    • U.S. citizen or permanent U.S. resident
    • Must currently receive need-based financial aid or demonstrate a verifiable need for financial assistance to participate in the proposed study abroad program
    • Minimum 2.8 GPA
    • Must have applied or have been accepted to a study abroad based program in: Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Laos, Macao, Malaysia, Mongolia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam
    • Programs that are language-intensive
    • Program Length: minimum of 8 weeks for a summer term, 10 weeks for a quarter term, and 12 weeks for a semester term
    • Must have little or no previous experience in the country in which he or she plans to study
    • Must submit a good service proposal that gives back and promotes study abroad in Asia back on campus.

Weekend Student Adventures' (WSA) Cultural Bridge Scholarship

  • Eligibility
    • U.S Citizen currently enrolled as an undergraduate in the US (submissions accepted from valid .edu addresses only)
    • Has already accepted or applied to study abroad in Europe (proof required)
    • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Award: up to $500

The French Embassy Benjamin Franklin - Generation Study Abroad Scholarship

  • Eligibility
    • U.S. citizen or permanent U.S. resident enrolled at an American University
    • Candidates must enrolled in an undergraduate degree program
    • Candidates must plan to do their study abroad experience within a French institution

Germany

Japan


Bridging Scholarships for Study in Japan

  • Eligibility
    • Undergraduate students majoring in any field of study are eligible and Japanese language study is not a prerequisite
    • Must be U.S. citizens
    • Must be enrolled as undergraduates in a college or university in the United States before and during the time they are studying abroad
    • Study in Japan must last for at least 3 months and must earn credit that will transfer to their home campus in the US

    • Academic Year: $4,000
    • Semester: $2,500

Japan-American Society (JASWDC) Tanaka & Green Scholarship

  •  Eligibility
    • Must be a US citizen or hold US Resident status
    • Must be enrolled full time in an undergraduate or graduate school in the United States
    • Must give proof of acceptance at a college or university in Japan as a full time foreign exchange student for either one semester or one academic year
    • Must give proof that the program in Japan is an approved student exchange program of the applicant's home college or university in the US
    • Must intend to return to the college or university in the United States
    • May be majors in any subject, but must demonstrate that they have taken or plan to take academic courses related to Japan, whether in the US or at the Japan college or university

  • Eligibility
    • Must be a US citizen or hold US Resident status

Turkish Coalition of America (TCA) Study Abroad Scholarships for American Students of Minority and Heritage Communities

  •  Eligibility
    • U.S. citizens or permanent residents
    • Of African, Armenian, Bosnian, Filipino, Hispanic/Latino, Macedonian, or Native American descent
    • Enrolled full-time and in good standing at an accredited U.S. college or university
    • Accepted into a language program or study abroad program at a university in Turkey, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, or Bosnia and Herzegovina

  • Eligibility
    • Minimum 2.5 GPA
    • Currently enrolled in a university

    • 500 word story in PDF format in English about an experience you had where you became friends with someone from a different culture
  • Award: $1,500 (can be used for school expenses in the terms before study abroad or during study abroad)

Applicants must want to study abroad but no proof of enrollment in a study abroad program is needed. The scholarship can be used for school expenses in the terms before study abroad or during study abroad.

University Language Services

Take a photo that captures what you learned (or want to learn) from studying abroad, write a short description of 100-200 words

Turkish Coalition of America (TCA) Study Abroad Scholarships for American Students of Minority and Heritage Communities

  •  Eligibility
    • U.S. citizens or permanent residents
    • Of African, Armenian, Bosnian, Filipino, Hispanic/Latino, Macedonian, or Native American descent
    • Enrolled full-time and in good standing at an accredited U.S. college or university
    • Accepted into a language program or study abroad program at a university in Turkey, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, or Bosnia and Herzegovina
    • Willing to share your experiences in Turkey with your peers and the TCA community – especially via TCA's Facebook page at www.facebook.com/TurkishCoalitionofAmerica
  • Award: Up to $2,000

Weekend Student Adventures' (WSA) Cultural Bridge Scholarship

  • Eligibility
    • U.S Citizen currently enrolled as an undergraduate in the US (submissions accepted from valid .edu addresses only)
    • Has already accepted or applied to study abroad in Europe (proof required)
    • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Award: up to $500

WSA Europe will award scholarships based on financial need, passion, and merit
