Description: | The student will have the opportunity to work with an attending psychiatrist, psychiatry resident, family practice resident, and occasionally a neurology resident on the consultation team. The student will be involved in all phases of the consultation from reviewing pertinent chart material to conferring with the referring physician. The principles of consultation are discussed and cases are reviewed with the attending. The service receives referrals from all services within the hospital and will provide the student with exposure to a wide variety of patients and pathology. The interface between medicine and psychiatry is heavily emphasized, as are organic causes of psychiatric disturbances. |
Method of Evaluation: | Supervisor provides a narrative with examples of student performance, as well as an overall grade based on the Honors, High Pass, Pass, Unsatisfactory, Fail criteria. |
