Prerequisite: YES - Fall Semester - open only to M4s applying to Dermatology residencies. Spring Semester - open to all M3 and M4 students. 
Special Note:

Dermatology clinics are held at Hines VA, Oak Brook Terrace, Burr Ridge and Homer Glen satellite clinics. Didactic sessions and Grand Rounds take place on the medical school campus in Maywood. The student must provide his/her own transportation to these sites. On the first day of the rotation, report to the designated site on your provided schedule. 

Please dress professionally. Dress is business casual. Please wear close-toed shoes. Scrubs are appropriate for procedure days. 

Description:

The student will be expected to attend daily clinics and conferences. In addition, there will be required reading with the text provided. The student should gain familiarity with basic dermatology techniques such as biopsies, KOH preps, and cryotherapy. This is a full time elective and the student will be expected to approach the elective as such.

Students will be asked to present a brief case of interest at our monthly grand rounds meeting

Method of Evaluation:

A test assessing dermatology knowledge will be given at the end of the rotation. Evaluation is based on clinical performance, written examination results, and evidence of scholarly conduct.

This course is graded Honors/High Pass/Pass/Fail.
