Some clinics are held at satellite offices. The student must provide his/her own transportation to these sites.

For academic year 2024-2025, the elective will be held: 
3/03/24-3/14/24 (11C/March Period)

During the rotation, students will be exposed to various disciplines and modalities of complementary/alternative medicine through lectures, observations, and participation. The lecture and didactic sessions cover the principles and techniques of acupuncture, mind-body medicine, homeopathy, herbal medicine, and nutrition. Teaching sessions will be scheduled on Monday for all students. From Tuesday to Thursday, students will split up to rotate through various clinics including pain clinic and acupuncture. Each student will have the opportunity to interview and examine one to two volunteer cases under my supervision and will be expected to prepare a presentation for discussion. In addition, each student will pick a topic on CAM and one on acupuncture for presentation. All students will reconvene on Friday for their presentations.

1. The student will learn how to treat "the whole person";
2. The student will learn about the different modalities of complimentary/alternative medicine and the "what, when, and where" to refer patients for CAM; 
3. The student will be able to have first hand experience on a few of the CAM modalities including acupuncture;
4. The student will learn about herbal medicine, nutrition, and homeopathy and be able to better advise patients on those topics.
