Description: |
The goal of this elective is to teach students the evidence-based treatment of LGBTQ+ patients in medicine. Over the two-week rotation, students will read and discuss various topics that come up in LGBTQ+ care. The topics may include, but are not limited to, the following: health disparities, mental health, initiation and maintenance of PrEP, initiation and maintenance of hormones for transgender patients, and pediatric healthcare. By the end of the rotation, students should be able to comfortably discuss routine issues that arise in LGBTQ+ health with patients and with colleagues. |
Method of Evaluation: |
This course is Pass/Fail. Students will be evaluated based on participation in group discussions (70%), a project/presentation on LGBTQ topic (20%), and an exam on the material covered (10%). |
