Course Title: International Medical Experience in Changzhou, China

Description:

This is a 4-week experience in the First People’s Hospital of Changzhou China. At least 8 weeks prior to the start of the rotation, contact Dr. Amy Blair with your interest. After an introduction to the on-site coordinator, your experience will be designed for you based on your medical specialty interest as well as your general interests. This hospital is an integrated health care environment providing standard allopathic medicine as well as Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) including herbs, acupuncture, etc. You will live on site at the Zhenru hotel, which is owned by the hospital, and meals will be provided for you. You will be financially responsible for transportation to and from Changzhou as well as any additional sight-seeing expenses. You will rotate in the hospital for 6 hours per day/ 5 days a week, with some additional hospital social activities on some evenings and weekends.

Method of Evaluation: Students will be evaluated on the basis of each of the six SSOM core competencies. Students will be subjectively graded on participation by on-site faculty, will be provided mid-term and final evaluations, as well being graded on a final project or examination. Passing all components will be required to pass the course.
