CME Programs
Department-wide Grand Rounds takes place at 7:00am the second Wednesday of the month and morning conference occurs most Wednesday mornings from 7:15-8:15 a.m. All members of the eye community are welcome.
The Chicago Subspecialty Lecture Series is a program which was started in 2003 to facilitate more formal interaction with members of other ophthalmology departments throughout the city. The format includes a reception followed by two presentations and a question and answer session.
There are also six endowed speakerships per year. These CME programs include the Arthur Light, MD, Memorial Lectureship in Ophthalmology, two John J. Skowron, MD Distinguished Visiting Professorships, the Richard Gieser, MD, World Service Lecture, the James E. McDonald, MD, Annual Alumni Day Lecture and the Mark J. Daily Lectureship in Retinal Disease.
The first Current Concepts in Eye Care for the Optometric Practitioner took place in November, 2009. This two-hour presentation by Loyola faculty focuses on clinically relevant information for the optometric practitioner covering several specialty areas, including ocular surface disease, glaucoma clinical trials, eyelid and orbit infection, and specialty contact lenses for corneal disease.
