Hematology/Oncology Interest Group (HemOncIG)

Hematology/Oncology Interest Group

The SSOM's Hematology/Oncology Interest Group (HemOncIG) aims to provide students with exposure to the field that primarily deals with the medical/pharmacologic treatment of cancer and blood dyscrasias. Through interactions with LUHS physicians, researchers, and patients, the HemOncIG strives to equip students with the information and insight needed to pursue a career in Hematology/Oncology. The HemOncIG is graciously supported by the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO).

Events

The HemOncIG is actively involved in organizing informative events and facilitating shadowing/research experiences. Planned events include:

  1. A multidisciplinary panel of LUHS oncologists
  2. Journal clubs focused on advances in cancer care
  3. Discussions led by cancer patients sharing their experiences
  4. Opportunities to attend Tumor Boards
  5. Compilation of oncology-centered research opportunities
