Evolutionary Medicine

The purpose of the Evolutionary Medicine organization is to explore and communicate a nascent field in medicine and evolutionary studies which looks at problems primarily with an evolutionary perspective. It seeks to understand WHY we get sick and not just HOW we get sick. In this way, we can better understand certain diseases, how they may have been evolutionarily advantageous in the past, and whether novel therapies can be deduced and applied. Additionally, the organization is open to ideas which touch on evolution and human biology generally.
