Evaluation Subcommittee
Evaluation Subcommittee
The Evaluation Subcommittee is a representative body of the entire faculty that is primarily responsible for periodically and systematically reviewing Stritch's individual curricular components.
- Assess course/clerkship manuals and handouts, stated goals and objectives, assessment methods, outcomes and competencies, evaluations by physicians-in-training, and course/clerkship director reports.
- Physician-in-training Review Panel reports.
- Applicable Medical Student Graduation Questionnaire (MSGQ) results.
- Pertinent USMLE performance.
- Review assessments and performance.
A comprehensive review of each curricular component occurs regularly (approximately every three years) and a streamlined review will be performed periodically as necessary, particularly when significant curricular or assessment changes are implemented. Following the comprehensive review, the subcommittee will generate a report reviewing the course or clerkship with attention to strengths and weaknesses with recommendations for improvement. The report should evaluate:
- Faculty teaching effectiveness, including resident physicians and affiliate site faculty and staff.
- The quality of the faculty evaluations of student performance and examinations – specifically, how well they assess stated objectives, competencies and outcomes.
- The extent to which the educational objectives have been achieved as indicated by student performance on course/clerkship or other standardized evaluations.
- The correlation between goals and curricular content.
- The effectiveness of course/clerkship materials in facilitating student learning and independent study.
- The appropriateness and effectiveness of the learning environments as they relate to stated goals and objectives.
- The effectiveness of the course/clerkship director and assistant director.
- Course and Clerkship Directors are requested to provide a profile of the course/clerkship, and are subsequently engaged in all phases of the review process after which a final report with recommendations is forwarded to the CCA.
