Curricular Innovations and Technology in Education Subcommittee
The primary charge of the Curricular Innovations and Technology in Education Subcommittee (CITE) Subcommitteeis to provide vision and oversight to the selection and implementation of alternative and innovative pedagogical approaches, including those that involve technology, within the curriculum. This will enhance the education of physicians-in-training and support collaboration and teamwork.
In order to accomplish this charge, the CITE subcommittee will:
- Promote stewardship of technology:
- Provide recommendations to the CCA regarding acquisition of pedagogical and technological tools.
- Through collaboration, help to ensure that infrastructure and educational technologies at Stritch efficiently use resources implemented within the Health Sciences Campus (e.g. Library, Simulation Center).
- Serve as a CCA liaison to the Information Technology group to advocate for technologies which support the delivery and assessment of curricula.
- Recommend hardware and software purchases (to support current infrastructure related to and that supports the curriculum) to the Associate Vice President of Informatics and Systems Development
- Develop expertise in pedagogical approaches that involve technology to:
- Keep current on developments in new pedagogical approaches and help facilitate the introduction of these approaches into courses and clerkships.
- Be a resource to faculty and staff in the selection and use of educational technologies to complement the teaching-learning process and assessment of outcomes.
- Cultivate ongoing dialogue between physicians-in-training, faculty and staff, including the Health Sciences Campus Instructional Design Team, to further enhance use of educational pedagogical tools and technology within the curriculum.
- Maintain broad representation on the subcommittee of faculty, staff, and physicians-in-training with interest and expertise in curriculum development, assessment, outcome analysis; instructional design, pedagogical innovations; curriculum oversight; and information technology.
