Competency Evaluation and Assessment Review

The Competency Evaluation and Assessment Review Committee serves the CCA by providing oversight for the school’s competency evaluation processes including review of all assessment instruments used.

 This subcommittee: 

  • Monitors the school’s curricular/assessment blueprint to ensure the quality of assessments used in courses, clerkships, and electives (including collaborating with the Evaluation Subcommittee in the ongoing review of all courses and clerkships.)
  • Aligns and maps all competency assessments to Stritch's desired graduation outcomes.
  • Supports faculty (course/clerkship directors) in the selection and development of reliable and valid assessment instruments.
  • Monitors the timing, frequency, and sequencing and total numbers of assessment activities within the curricular blueprint.
  • Tracks the performance record of assessment instruments/evaluative activities and makes quality improvement recommendations. 
  • Monitors the course and clerkship processes for measuring, scoring, weighting, and grading to optimize validity and promote consistency across the curriculum.
  • Consults the Evaluation Subcommittee on competency assessments along with individuals and committees responsible for remediation of physician-in-training's performance and advancement within the curriculum.
  • Ensures the competency assessment process is intelligible and transparent to all learners who are subject to Stritch evaluation processes.
