The Department of Cancer Biology at Loyola University Chicago Health Sciences Campus is a basic science department devoted to improving cancer patient outcomes. Through our foundational and translational research programs, we strive to understand the complex mechanisms that underlie the development, progression and treatment of cancer. Our success is rooted in our dynamic faculty who are dedicated to establishing and maintaining grant-funded research programs resulting in high-impact publications and advances in their fields. By working together with each other and our clinical colleagues, we have created a supportive, collegial and highly interactive research environment that promotes both individual and collaborative success.

Training the next generation of cancer researchers is central to our mission.  Our faculty offer outstanding mentorship and educational opportunities to trainees at every level. Our department is home to the Cellular and Molecular Oncology Master of Science degree program and the Biochemistry, Molecular and Cancer Biology track for PhD students enrolled in the Integrated Program in Biomedical Sciences (IPBS).  Additionally, faculty are affiliated with the following Health Sciences Campus graduate programs: the Master's programs in Integrative Cell Biology, Molecular Pharmacology and Therapeutics, and Neuroscience, as well as the MS/MBA in Molecular Pharmacology and Therapeutics.  Faculty teach in a variety of graduate and medical school courses.
