What is your favorite thing about working at Loyola?
Working with my FSYA colleagues! Every day, we strive to provide the best possible service to our students, empowering them to make their own decisions for their future. This is made possible by the collaborative nature of our team. New ideas are welcomed and supported, allowing us to implement strategies that ultimately benefit our students. Being a part of this inclusive space inspires me to put forth my best efforts and makes it a joy to come to work every day!
What is your most memorable achievement as a Loyola employee?
My most memorable achievement as a Loyola employee thus far was having the opportunity to teach multiple sections of UNIV 101 during the previous fall semester. Not only was I an instructor for these students during their first semester, but I was also their academic advisor. Being able to support students during a difficult transition period in two professional capacities was both unique and incredibly fulfilling. Helping students navigate the complicated world of college and empowering them with the knowledge and skills to plan for their future was an enriching experience. It reinforced my decision to pursue a career in higher education and passion for serving students.
What does Loyola's mission mean to you?
Working with students during their first two years in college goes far beyond their academics. That is why Loyola’s mission of “cura personalis,” or care for the whole person, is so crucial to my work. This ensures I am supporting each student at an individual level, helping me to create an inclusive, student-centered environment.
What motivates you to succeed each and every day?
The opportunity to have a positive impact on the student experience is what motivates me. I have the chance to be a part of a student’s “ah-hah,” moment. It is the moment they decide on a major, career path, or realize something on their own for the first time. When students feel empowered to succeed, I am inspired to continue improving their experience.
Tell us how you show your Rambler pride:
I love sporting my Loyola swag at work, home, and around the city! When people I ask, I am all too happy to tell them about the community I belong to.
Tell us something most people at Loyola would be surprised to know about you:
I love reading almost every book I can get my hands on. My favorite genre is fantasy. That’s why I have Harry Potter or Gryffindor memorabilia all over my workspace!
