MSW Ambassador Duties
Below is a list and description of duties MSW Ambassadors may carry throughout the year. Please review and feel free to RSVP for those you are interested in as instructed AFTER you have submitted a SSW MSW Ambassador Program Application.
Prospective students often contact the Admissions Office wanting to speak with a current student or alum who has insight on the MSW program from a current or past student perspective. MSW Ambassadors serving as a point of contact or “expert” may be contacted via email or phone by a select number of prospective students (with specific questions they have about the program and being a student) throughout the year. MSW Ambassadors interested in serving as a "expert" should email Kelly McGarry at email@example.com with their interest and contact information.
As an informal way of offering prospective students an opportunity to get their program questions and concerns addressed by staff and students of the School of Social Work, the school’s Enrollment Advisor also holds online Q&A sessions. During an online Q&A session MSW Ambassadors will assist the Enrollment Advisor in answering questions posed by attendees. MSW Ambassadors interested in participating in an online Q&A session must RSVP their intent to participate to a scheduled information session. Dates will be available soon.
Each month, the School of Social Work’s Enrollment Advisor holds information sessions for prospective students to learn more about the MSW program. These sessions are either held downtown at Loyola’s Water Tower Campus or online. During an information session, MSW Ambassadors will be asked to speak about their student perspective as a current student or alum. MSW Ambassadors interested in participating in an information session must RSVP their intent to participate to a scheduled information session here.
Twice a year, the School of Social Work’s Enrollment Advisor along with Loyola’s Graduate Enrollment Office holds a formal School of Social Work Open House event. Similar to an information session, but on a larger scale, an open house event involves a panel of a current student, alum, faculty member and staff member from the School of Social Work to provide various insights on the MSW program. MSW Ambassadors interested in participating in an open must RSVP their intent to participate to a scheduled information session. Dates will be available soon.
Upon admissions to the MSW program, the Admissions Office strives to call newly admitted students to personally congratulate them on their admissions and provide assistance with questions on next steps. During the phone-a-thon MSW Ambassadors will contact 10-15 newly admitted students. All phone-a-thons will be held at the School of Social Work located downtown at Loyola’s Water Tower Campus. MSW Ambassadors interested in participating in a phone-a-thon must RSVP their intent to participate to a scheduled phone-a-thon here.
Campus Visit Days give newly admitted students the opportunity to tour Loyola’s Water Tower Campus and connect with current MSW students, alums, and faculty over lunch. During Campus Visit Days MSW Ambassadors will conduct a roundtable discussion about the MSW program and social work and/or give a tour of the Water Tower Campus. At the end of the day, MSW Ambassadors are asked to write short thank you notes that will be mailed to those that visited. All Campus Visit Days will be held at the School of Social Work located downtown at Loyola’s Water Tower Campus. Ambassadors interested in participating in a Campus Visit Day must RSVP their intent to participate to a scheduled Campus Visit Day here.
