Researchers
The Loyola University Chicago School of Social Work faculty is dedicated to research that intersects with many areas of social work. To better demonstrate our areas of specialization, we’ve divided our research into the three main categories defined by the Grand Challenges for Social Work: Stronger Social Fabric, Individual & Family Well-being, and Just Society. We are committed to hiring faculty and doctoral students interested in research across the breadth of the social work profession.

Impact Review
The School of Social Work’s annual Impact Review highlights the diverse and far-reaching research activities of the school’s faculty and doctoral students. It features compelling stories of our scholars, details recent work from our Centers and Institutes, notes on continuing education opportunities the School of Social Work provides, and highlights faculty achievements, including peer-reviewed publications and presentations as well as books and grants

Doctoral Students
Representing the next generation of social work’s scholarly leaders, our PhD students are researching novel approaches to micro, mezzo, and macro practice, examining ways to enhance systems, and driving the profession’s role in social and economic justice.

"We would go beyond the case study. Being able to have that uncensored, real dialogue with professors who were in the field prepared me for when I came across the real situation. As a social worker you have to be prepared for anything and everything, and the education I received prepared me for those real challenges." Rosanelly Garcia, '14, 2021 NASW-Illinois Social Worker of the Year
