Ignatian Family Teach-In
Ignatian Family Teach-In for Justice (IFTJ)
November 14-17, 2025
Washington, DC
What is the Ignatian Family Teach-In for Justice?
The annual Ignatian Family Teach-In for Justice (IFTJ) gathers members of the Ignatian Family in solidarity to learn, reflect, pray, network, and advocate in the context of social justice. Participants from Jesuit schools, parishes, and social ministries are empowered, re-energized, inspired, challenged, and supported by a community that sees faith and justice integrally linked. After learning about justice issues and connecting them to Catholic Social Tradition, IFTJ participants engage in advocacy to affirm justice in policy and practice.
In 2025, the advocacy issues we will focus on are:
- Humane Migration Reform (immigration justice)
- Care for Creation (environmental justice)
How do I get involved?
Loyola selects a delegation of students to attend. You must apply to be considered. Watch for the application link here by the first day of classes! Applications are due Sunday, September 7.
Loyola students take part in the IFTJ in various other ways, too. You can submit a workshop or Ignatian speaker proposal. Ask the CSA team for details. And check out these videos from the 2023 Public Witness, where Mary Rittle, '27 and Thomas Crabtree, '25 both spoke.
Are there more details?
The Loyola delegation will depart from Chicago on Friday, November 14 and return late on Monday, November 17. The group will spend some time exploring DC before the Teach-In begins. We'll end with a day of meetings on Capitol Hill.
Specific requirements and expectations will be available later this summer. This includes information about the participation fee.
