Maya Marks-Strauss
Name: Maya Marks-Strauss
Year in School: Sophomore
Major: Information Systems
About You:
Where are you from? Indianapolis, IN
What do you like to do? Listen to music, cook & explore new places
My Community Service & Action Experience:
How are you involved in Community Service & Action? I’m currently an LUCServe mentee.
Why do you engage in the Community? I wanted to feel more connected to the LUC community and campus while doing virtual college from Indy.
What is one of your favorite stories from your community engagement experiences? I went to an event that focused on mental health and discussed some of the benefits surrounding telehealth, which put light on some of the positives of quarantine.
How do you envision living out the call to “Build the Greater Good” after you graduate? I think the lesson I’ll take away from CSA is helping regardless of assumptions or appearances. I plan on using this to help push past barriers of doubt or anxiety when choosing and pursuing various forms of community outreach.
Being a Rambler:
How are you involved at Loyola outside of CSA? I’m involved in SDMA and their affiliated organizations and FYE as an Orientation Leader, Peer Advisor, and Pack Leader.
What tips do you have for building and maintaining community in college? (Is there anything unique you are doing during remote learning this year?) Go to virtual events alone where you don’t know anyone. It pushes you to meet new people, which is exactly what everyone is craving right now, and you get to talk more 1:1 with the group’s leaders.
What makes you most excited for this school year? The number of naps I’m about to take.
