Master in Public Policy (MPP)
Program Overview
Job growth, affordable housing, educational reform, environmental degradation—these are just a few of the complex challenges society faces today. As these issues grow more complex, productive relationships among government, business, and non-profit organizations gain added importance.
The Master of Public Policy (MPP) program at Loyola University Chicago’s School of Continuing and Professional Studies (SCPS) helps students direct their interest in pressing societal problems into thoughtful analysis and earnest action.
A professional degree focused on training students to assume leadership roles in government, non-profit organizations, or business, the MPP curriculum combines knowledge about current government programs with the technical skills to assess how politics influence policy choices, how design informs more effective programs, and how critical evaluation elevates the impact of existing efforts.
MPP students mix required courses in topics like policy design, budgeting, and evaluation with electives drawn from departments across Loyola University, including criminal justice, economics, education, philosophy, political science, psychology, sociology, and social work. In addition, internships or capstone projects empower students to apply skills developed in the program and gain valuable work-related experience.
Our flexible and accelerated 8-week online courses allow you to complete your degree quickly–typically, two years for full-time students and three years for part-time students–from an accredited, leading university with engaged faculty and a 100-year track record of educating adult learners and promoting social justice.
