Workshop

Introduction to JSON: Translating text into a structured data exchange format

Are you interested in learning how to gain meaningful insight from public data sources such as data.gov or work with data that companies offer via an API (application programming interface)?    

This workshop will provide an introduction to JSON (JavaScript Object Notation) and teach you how to translate text into a structured data exchange format. Once participants have an understanding of JSON, we’ll practice interpreting, retrieving, and visually displaying the data to gain meaningful insight. We’ll cover the fundamental concepts of JSON, learn how to effectively work with RESTful APIs to retrieve and consume data and explore how JSON plays a crucial role in databases such as MongoDB.

  • How to make a call to a RESTFul API web service 
  • How to visually display JSON Data using a mainstream BI tool­­ 

Who Should Register

Whether you're a seasoned IT professional aiming to deepen your understanding of RESTful APIs or someone without a technical background eager to acquire new skills and explore data, this workshop will provide you with the necessary skills to start your own data exploration project.   

No prior experience is needed, the only thing you will need is a laptop.
