About

Andrea Bruno Aureli earned his PhD at Rice University. An anthropologist and translator, he currently teaches Italian Studies and Cultural Anthropology at the John Felice Rome Center. His research intersects history and anthropology with a concentration on social movements and nationalism. His latest publications are “Squatting movements. Reappropriating democracy from the state?  in Interface: a journal for and about social movements, Volume 9(1): 497–521 (2017) and “Il cammino tortuoso per ‘mettere in comune” in Annali MEMOTEF, special issue on the Commons, 2016. These articles focus on the prefigurative politics of squatting movements in Italy.
