Henry Balani
Instructor of Finance
Dr. Henry Balani holds a Doctorate in Business Administration (Finance) from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, an MBA from Northern Illinois University, and a BS in economics, international trade, and development from the London School of Economics, University of London.
As an academic, Balani lectures on financial issues and publishes research on the impact of technology and regulations on banking sector valuations in the United States and Europe. His published papers include studies on the impact of faster payments on regulatory compliance, measuring trade-based money laundering in Asia, and the effect of the Fourth EU Anti-Money Laundering Directive on bank valuations.
He has lectured on business management, finance, international trade, and regulatory compliance at multiple global institutions, including Cambridge University and Case Western Reserve Law School, where he instructed compliance officers and regulators on developing effective compliance programs in the banking sector.
Balani has over 30 years of experience in the banking regulatory industry as a financial technology services executive. In his most recent role as global head of industry and regulatory affairs for Encompass Corporation, a leading Know Your Customer (KYC) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) automation platform, he was responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with regulators, initiating research into key technology issues, informing product strategy, and representing the company on a global scale.
