New York City: Signing Off

A group of students pose for a photo among the bright lights of NYC.

"In the end, the best part of the trip was the connections I made with the other Loyola students, staff members, and alumni," wrote Paige Gutierrez (BBA ’25).

Major: Marketing

I can't believe our trip has already come to an end. As I pack up my bags to head back to Chicago, I am sad to leave such an amazing city behind but am also excited to bring back all the new information I've learned. Over the week I got to visit some amazing NYC companies, meet with Loyola alumni, and explore such a diverse city. Having the opportunity to visit companies like McCann and Philips Health was a valuable opportunity to talk to those working in the Marketing industry and learn from their experience and advice. I also got to connect with Loyola alumni at the alumni reception where I met multiple alumni who work at marketing agencies or for the marketing department of some major New York companies.

In addition to learning about the marketing world in NYC, I also was able to discover a lot about myself and my future aspirations. I had always played with the idea of moving to the city after graduation, but this trip made me certain that NYC is the best place for me to start my marketing career within the beauty and fashion sector. I loved everything from the delis on every corner to the street performers that were sprinkled throughout Central Park.

In the end, the best part of the trip was the connections I made with the other Loyola students, staff members, and alumni. I know that these relationships will last beyond this trip and even beyond graduation.  I wish this trip could have lasted longer but I will cherish the memories made for the rest of my life.
