Xiang Gao

Assistant Professor of Finance


Dr. Xiang Gao is an assistant professor of finance at Loyola University Chicago’s Quinlan School of Business. His research examines how financial systems—including corporate bond markets and credit derivatives—affect firm behavior and risk dynamics over time. His work focuses on corporate finance, financial markets, and the role of innovation in financial intermediation, exploring how capital structures, debt maturity, and financial instruments shape decisions for firms and investors. He applies both traditional empirical methods and emerging techniques, including machine learning applications in finance.

Dr. Gao’s research has been published in leading academic journals, including Management Science, the Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, and the Journal of Business Research. His work has also been featured by organizations such as the International Swaps and Derivatives Association (ISDA).
