Why this program? 

Prior to my time at Quinlan, I spent 20 years with the United States Navy focusing in logistics. I made the decision to go back to school to become a more well-rounded supply chain professional.

What attracted me to the program was a combination of reputation in Chicago and value. I wanted a strong academic program that was also affordable. In addition, my interaction with Professor Mike Welch at an open house was very memorable—he was very interested in my story and what I wanted out of this program.

Favorite experience? 

Quinlan’s Supply Chain Management program does a great job of keeping students engaged through exciting opportunities beyond the classroom.

As a student and alumnus, I have had multiple opportunities to attend several conferences to learn more about different areas in supply chain management. These experiences allowed me to network with peers, attend workshops, and collaborate with fellow students in new and innovative areas within supply chain management.

I encourage current and future students to take advantage of opportunities like this, especially with the Supply and Value Chain Center at Quinlan, to interact with peers and industry experts to continue to learn.

Advice to students in the program?

Complete an internship and start building your professional network to increase your chances of securing the job you want upon graduation. Internships are a short-term investment in securing the future you want.

In addition, take the time to form relationships with your professors. While at Loyola, I completed an internship at Bosch—an opportunity that I received from Professor Maciek Nowak’s connection with a supply chain manager there. Professor Nowak, along with other faculty, work very hard to connect students to potential job opportunities.
