Prior to joining the CDC staff, Keyalo served as a counselor with the CHANCE Program at Northern Illinois University where his roles included counseling, advising, teaching and working with African American Males. He brings a number of rich experiences to his current position, having worked with at-risk youth, individuals living with severe mental illness, chronically-ill homeless adults, and as an advocate for victims of crime, child abuse, sexual assault, and domestic violence.
