I am a computer scientist with an interest at the intersection of AI, human-computer interaction and health disparities. My research focuses on improving health literacy among marginalized and minority communities for whom the utilization of technology is structurally difficult (i.e. low literacy, English as a second language, etc.), yet potentially beneficial. Because generic AI techniques may not be enough, I do this through purposefully designing AI applications that encompass cultural, linguistic and other models that distinctly address a community need in healthcare. This research has a sharp applied focus that aims to generate impact in the communities we partner with.

I am also affiliated with the Center for Advancing Safety and Machine Intelligence -CASMI- at Northwestern University. I also previously taught at Northeastern Illinois University, and worked in the software industry.
