Office of Postdoctoral Affairs
The Office of Postdoctoral Affairs goals are to facilitate and strengthen the resources, community, and support for postdoctoral trainees at Loyola University Chicago. Under the guidance of the Vice Provost for Research, the Office of Postdoc Affairs will provide leadership related to the postdoc experience at Loyola. The Office will work closely with faculty and administrative partners throughout the research community and all campuses to manage and guide the University’s postdoctoral researchers and fellows.
Office of Research Services
The Office of Research Services (ORS) assists faculty and students with externally funded research, training, and public service projects. We process all applications for funding and are the official contact with sponsors for the life of each project. ORS also oversees all compliance issues related to human participation, animal studies, radioactive materials, or potentially hazardous agents. We are responsible for scholarly integrity, intellectual property (e.g. patents), and other activities associated with scholarship and external support.
Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC)
Loyola University Chicago Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) is responsible for reviewing all protocols involving living vertebrate animals ensuring compliance with federal regulations, inspecting animal facilities and laboratories and overseeing training and educational programs. The overall role of the IACUC is to ensure the humane and sensitive care and use of animals.
Institutional Review Board (IRB)
The Institutional Review Boards (IRBs) are federally regulated entities within Loyola and are mandated to review biomedical and social behavioral research studies that take place within or under the authority of the Loyola University Chicago. This is to ensure the proposed research meets established ethical, regulatory, and policy criteria to protect the rights and welfare of the human participants of such research.
Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC)
Loyola University of Chicago takes very seriously its obligation to oversee research and instruction that involves biohazardous materials and/or recombinant DNA. Before initiating any work involving biohazardous materials and/or recombinant DNA, whether supported by external funding or not, principal investigators are required to have their protocol approved by the Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC).
Technology Transfer : Intellectual Property
The Technology Transfer Committee (TTC) is charged with reviewing faculty requests for securing and protecting intellectual property rights (IPR).
Sponsored Program Accounting
The departmental objective is to assist faculty, departments & Deans in achieving their sponsored program related goals by coordinating service with the Research Services Office, Development, & all other University administrative services.
