The information on this page is intended to provide timely updates on presidential executive orders or federal directives that may have an impact on sponsored research at Loyola University Chicago. New information will be added as it is received.

- January 27 – Office of Management and Budget (OMB) issues first memo (Memo M-25-13 Temporary Funding Pause that directed federal agencies to put a temporary hold on grant, loan, and other financial assistance
- January 28 – OMB sends a Q & A Document aiming to clarify that the pause on funding of grants, etc. was specific to DEI, gender issues, etc.
- January 28 - U.S. District Judge Loren AliKhan grants a “Temporary Stay Order” that preserves federal disbursements at least until Monday (February 3) at 5 p.m. EST; She will make a ruling on Monday as to whether this block will be extended.
- January 29 – OMB rescinds M-25-13 (Memo M-25-14 Rescinds M-25-13Memo M-25-14 Rescinds M-25-13)
- Later on January 29 – White House Press Secretary acknowledges the OMB is rescinded, but states that the executive orders are still in effect
- January 31 – Federal judge issues a Temporary Restraining Order, blocking the administration’s efforts to freeze payments for grants (and other programs)

Judge Orders Federal Health Agencies to Restore Public Health Datasets
A U.S. District Judge today issued a temporary order directing that federal health agencies, including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Food and Drug Administration (FDA), restore access to public datasets, which had been removed from agency websites in January following a White House executive order on gender ideology.
