All first-year students are required to attend the entire two-day, overnight program. Parents and guests, please refer to our Parents' site for your own optional two-day program.
Day 1: 9 a.m.–11:30 p.m. (ends at 5:30 p.m. for parents, all students stay overnight on-campus)
Day 2: 8 a.m.–2 p.m.
Suggested Packing List
Each student's overnight room will come with a pillow, sheets, and a towel, but you're welcome to bring along a blanket or toiletries. Heavier blankets will be available at Orientation Check-In in the lobby of the Residence Hall. At check-in, students will receive a water bottle and a small bag to carry around any orientation materials that they'll receive. We recommend packing comfortable clothing (many people prefer to bring along a sweatshirt since the buildings get cool in the summer!), comfortable shoes, and a small snack. You can also bring along any immunization paperwork to give to the Wellness Center at the Resource Fair on Day 2 of your orientation.
Check-In Time & Location
Check-in runs from 8:30–10:30 a.m. in the Institute of Environmental Sustainability, Rooms 123/124. Students will receive their personalized schedules and the key to their overnight room, as well as parking validation, at this time. Once students are checked in, they can go place their suitcases in their overnight room and meet their Orientation roommate!
The Parking Structure (P on the Lake Shore Campus) is located at the corner of Sheridan Road and Winthrop Avenue (the entrance to this structure is off the campus drive, accessed from the light at Sheridan Road and Kenmore Avenue). Upon checking in at Orientation, you can request parking validation. Review detailed driving directions.
The First Year Program Fee is $350 per student. The fee includes all materials, food, two guest passes for the two-day program, and overnight accommodations for the student. Additionally, this fee funds various other programs throughout the student's first year at Loyola, including Convocation. The First Year Program Fee is applied directly to the student's tuition account once the student has attended orientation, and it will be automatically included in your first bill.
