Photo Contest
The Office of Global and Community Engagement is hosting a photo contest for all students to share their global experiences. The contest is open to international students, study abroad students, and any Loyola graduate or undergraduate student who wish to share their international experiences through photos. Photos can highlight your experience here in Chicago, your hometown, or abroad! Submit up to one photo per category – Loyola Spirt, Global Chicago, Friendship, Nature & Architecture, and People’s Choice. You can choose to submit the same photo for multiple categories or different ones for all. First and second place winners will receive a prize and be celebrated at International Education Week’s Global Fest on November 17th from 4:00pm – 6:00pm in Sister Jean North/South.

Undergraduate Research Opportunities on International Topics
Loyola’s College of Arts and Sciences Center for Research on International Affairs (CRIA) presents an interdisciplinary roundtable moderated by Prof. Catherine Putonti (Department of Biology), CAS Associate Dean, Interdisciplinary Initiatives & Academic Innovation. The panel will feature the following Loyola faculty: Prof. Robert Bucholz (Department of History), Prof. Patrick Cunha Silva (Department of Political Science), Prof. Ruth Gomberg-Munoz (Department of Anthropology), and Prof. Alice Weinreb (Department of History). The panelists have extensive experiences working on research projects with undergraduate students through Provost Fellowships, Social Justice Research Fellowship, “CURE” courses, study abroad research experiences, and Undergraduate Summer Research Experiences, and other programs. Come learn all about such programs and about the application processes. There will be ample time for questions from the audience following the brief presentations from the panelists. Pizza and refreshments will be served.

Water Insecurity Across Borders Webinar: A Heating Climate, Extreme Water Events and Health Outcomes among Vulnerable Populations
Robust evaluation of the environmental, health and socio-economic outcomes of the heating climate and catastrophic outcomes such as extreme flooding and drought are limited, but especially among vulnerable populations such as those living in Africa. In this webinar, leading experts from Chicago, USA and Cape Town, South Africa will share their recent work exploring extreme water events and health outcomes, increasing nighttime temperatures and sleep health, the impact of climate change on diabetes prevalence and a heat adaptation intervention among 4 vulnerable populations in South Africa and Ghana.

Join us for an information session on the John Felice Rome Center! This session will give you all the information you need about what makes the JFRC a great place for Loyola students to study abroad, as well as how to apply! Whether you are interested in studying at the JFRC for a semester, full academic year, or 5-week summer session, we welcome you to join us! Please join us for an interactive Group Presentation Session (GPS) to learn about opportunities for U.S. citizens to pursue graduate or professional study, conduct research, or teach English. During the session, you will find out about the types of Fulbright awards, application components, tips, and get your questions answered. Following the program overview, attendees will enter a breakout room with their Fulbright Program Adviser(s) (FPA) to learn more about applying through their institution.

Develop a Faculty-Led Program
Are you interested in leading a faculty-led program abroad in Summer 2025 or J-term/Spring Break 2026? Please join the Study Abroad Office for a session on developing a faculty-led program. Learn more about the proposal process, hear examples from past colleagues, and discover ways to embed global opportunities into existing LUC coursework. All faculty are encouraged to attend whether it’s for the upcoming proposal application cycle or for a future cycle.
