‌Investigator: Leann Horsley, PhD, RN, CHSE, CNE

Building a culture of safety is imperative within health care institutions.  The TeamSTEPPS curriculum provides the strategies and tools to promote safety and simulation provides the learning environment to maximize the safety training.  The proposed study will be a quantitative descriptive one group pretest/posttest design to assess for feasibility and effectiveness of the TeamSTEPPS simulation training.  Various instructional strategies will be used during the three and a half hour educational session from an online module, two simulation and debriefing sessions, and a small group discussion about the principles of TeamSTEPPS as well as the application into the health care environment.  Three instruments will be used for evaluation.  The aim of this study is to determine if TeamSTEPPS simulation training improves the knowledge, perception of safety, and team performance of health care professionals.
