Ridgely J. Jackson is a Senior Attorney in the Construction Law group of DLA Piper LLP (US) in Chicago. She drafts construction, design, and design-build contracts for large-scale, commercial projects. Ridgely also prosecutes and defends mechanics lien disputes.

DLA Piper awarded Ridgely its National Pro Bono Award in 2012 and 2007 and the Chicago Pro Bono Award in 2011.  She also was the Pro Bono Attorney of the Month (1/10) for Illinois Legal Aid On-Line.  She focuses her pro bono practice on special education issues, representing children and their families as a volunteer at Equip for Equality.  Ridgely also serves on Equip for Equality’s Advisory Council to its Special Education Clinic. 

With respect to construction law, Ridgely is Associate Editor of Under Construction, the newsletter of the American Bar Association’s Forum on the Construction Industry.  She has authored and edited numerous publications and presentations, most recently co-authoring an article titled “Direct vs. Consequential Damages:  Use the Road Sign Test to Tell the Difference.”  A graduate of Loyola University Chicago School of Law, she tutored students in Legal Writing while a student at Loyola, served as research assistant to Loyola’s Director of Writing Programs, and returns to teach Legal Writing.
