About

Joel is a private attorney litigating to protect the civil rights of individuals. Representative matters include police misconduct and unconstitutional conditions of confinement, including several class action lawsuits arising out of conditions at the Cook County Jail. He practices at the trial and appellate levels of the state and federal courts of Illinois. Before going into private practice, Joel was a trial attorney at the United States Department of Justice, Civil Rights Division, where he litigated on behalf of victims of housing discrimination in federal courts across the country. Joel also has experience as a law clerk for U.S. District Court Judge Rebecca Pallmeyer and as a staff law clerk for the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.
