Beazley Symposium on Health Law and Policy
The annual Beazley Symposium on Health Law and Policy examines the legal and policy issues surrounding access to health care on local, national, and international levels. Held each fall, the symposium is named in honor of Bernard Beazley, the Institute’s benefactor. Past topics include universal coverage, Medicare and Medicaid, safety nets, innovation in delivery systems, and immigration. This event offers continuing legal education for attorneys.
L. Edward Bryant, Jr. National Health Law Transactional Competition
The annual L. Edward Bryant, Jr. National Health Law Transactional Competition seeks to expose law students to the core competencies of the corporate and regulatory practice of health care law. Held each spring, law students from across the country compete by providing legal advice on a potential business opportunity to a hypothetical health care client in a boardroom setting. This event is endowed and named in honor of L. Edward Bryant, Jr., one of the founders of the field of health law.
Education Immersion Weekends
Education Immersion Weekends (EIWs) for online students and faculty are held three times each year. These weekends reinforce online learning through special programming, thesis presentations and workshops, and interaction between faculty and students.
Hot Topics Seminar Series
The Beazley Institute for Health Law and Policy regularly hosts online webinar sessions, known as the Hot Topics Seminar Series. Each session features a presentation by a national expert on an emerging issue or hot topic in health law, leadership, or compliance. Wiet Life Science Law Scholars Conference
The Wiet Life Science Law Scholars Conference is designed to provide a new intellectual venue for life science professors, scholars, and practitioners to convene and discuss current research and scholarship. The phrase “life science law” aims to capture research and disciplines spanning food and drug law, health law, intellectual property (IP), biotechnology, environmental, administrative, antitrust, and other realms that involve the life sciences in some meaningful respect. Our goal is to foster recognition of life science law as a cohesive, dynamic, area of legal study and strengthen connections among national life science law scholars.
