About

James Oehler is an Associate Attorney at the law firm Brinks Gilson & Lione in Chicago.  James’ experience includes drafting and prosecuting patent applications, preparing validity and infringement opinions, and litigating patents in federal district court and the International Trade Commission.  James’ patent practice has focused on medical devices, automotive products, smartphones, and a variety of other technologies.  James is admitted to practice law in Illinois as well as before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. 

Prior to pursuing a legal career, James worked as an engineer for 11 years.  Before joining Brinks Gilson & Lione, James was a Lead Project Mechanical Engineer at Kiewit Power Engineers in Lenexa, Kansas.  James was responsible for directing the design and procurement of mechanical systems for natural gas fueled power plants.
