Mediation Certification and Courthouse Practicum with CCR

Loyola students have the opportunity to become certified mediators through the Center for Conflict Resolution (CCR) in the Mediation Certification and Courthouse Practicum course.  After an intensive training at the beginning of the fall semester by Loyola faculty and CCR trainers, students mediate small claims cases in the Circuit Court of Cook County.  If a student is unable to meet CCR’s certification standard after the initial training, Loyola faculty and CCR trainers continue to work with the student until he or she achieves the level of skill to be certified.  Students may choose to continue to mediate more complex cases in the spring semester in the advanced course, and as CCR mediators, they are eligible to continue to gain experience as mediators at CCR after graduation.
