Gene Amromin

Gene Amromin is a vice president and director of financial research in the economic research department of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago.
In this role, Amromin leads the group of senior economists, knowledge leaders, and research assistants responsible for the Bank’s analysis of financial developments as they relate to monetary policy. He also conducts high-level policy briefings for the President and Chicago Board of Directors and interacts with senior policy staff at the Board of Governors and other Reserve Banks.
Amromin joined the Chicago Fed in 2005, following three years with the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System. His research focuses on housing markets, mortgage finance, household financial decision-making, taxation, and corporate finance, and has been published in a number of scholarly journals, including the Journal of Political Economy, the Journal of Financial Economics, and the Journal of Finance. During 2011-12, he served as a senior economist on the President’s Council of Economic Advisers.
