Brandon Bolen

Brandon Bolen is an Assistant Professor of Economics at Mississippi College in Clinton, Mississippi. He is a native Mississippian and received his Ph.D. in economics from Mississippi State University in 2018. His current research program focuses on the economics of small-dollar, non-bank consumer credit. In addition to his academic research in consumer credit, Brandon also provides consulting services to the financial industry, where he specializes in fair lending and Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) compliance.

As a teacher, Brandon is dedicated to cultivating enthusiasm for the economic way of thinking and the importance of economic ideas in his students. In 2020, he received the Pittman Young Faculty of the Year award from Mississippi College. Brandon also provides training and resources to K-12 educators in the state of Mississippi through the Mississippi Council on Economic Education to increase economic and financial literacy in Mississippi.

As an undergraduate student, Brandon played basketball at Mississippi State University from 2007-2011 where he was named to the Southeastern Conference Men’s Basketball Community Service Team (2011) and the Southeastern Conference Academic Honor Roll (2007-2011).
