Sakai is Loyola’s open-source learning management system (LMS) used for online, blended, hybrid, and in-person courses. Sakai is also used by the Loyola community to host collaborative project sites  for research, student clubs and organizations, and various learning and online training activities.

Use the latest version of your internet browser, e.g., Mozilla Firefox,  Google Chrome, or Microsoft Edge for an optimal Sakai experience; ITRS recommends Firefox or Chrome. To access a brief navigational tutorial after logging into Sakai, select your profile icon and choose Tutorial from the drop-down menu.

For more information regarding the timetables and policies governing Sakai course creation and deletion, please refer to the Sakai Administrative Schedule and Sakai Retention Policies.

Users with an luc.edu email address should use the loyola login link.

Sakai Essentials for Faculty

Sakai is Loyola’s primary learning management system, and it is jam-packed with tools to help organize your course content and better engage students. Learn about Sakai native teaching and learning tools, such as Calendar, Lessons, Assignments, Tests & Quizzes, Rubrics, Gradebook, and more. You will also be introduced to Sakai integrated tools like Zoom, Panopto, VoiceThread, and Turnitin. This is a fantastic chance to grasp the full potential of Sakai.

Intro to Sakai for Students

This webinar is highly recommended for all first year and transfer students. It also serves as a good refresher for returning students. Take a guided tour of learning tools found within Sakai so that you understand how to engage with course activities and lessons, submit coursework, take quizzes, and view grades or feedback. You will also be introduced to Sakai integrated tools for multimedia and communication. Faculty, please encourage your students to register and attend.
