Kathleen Ponce

Title/s: Adjunct Instructor



Kathy Ponce, M.A.P.S, BCC has worked in the health care industry for over 40 years.  She holds a B.S. in Physical Therapy from Marquette University and an M.A. in Pastoral Studies from St. Francis de Sales Seminary in Milwaukee, WI.  Her current career as a Board Certified Chaplain through the National Association of Catholic Chaplains has included the provision of spiritual care in Chicago area acute-care medical centers and continuing care communities, and the mentoring of Clinical Pastoral Education students in Chicago.  She serves on the Professional Advisory Board of Presence Health’s program in Clinical Pastoral Education.  Kathy was the recipient of the Annecy Award for Exceptional Pastoral Work from her seminary alma mater in 2013, and is a member of the National Jesuit Honor Society, Alpha Sigma Nu.   Having served the National Association of Catholic Chaplains in a variety of capacities including national conference planning, writing articles for Vision (NACC’s bi-monthly publication), and interviewing applicants for board certification, she is currently a member of the NACC Certification Commission.  
Kathy’s work at IPS includes teaching the “Healthcare Integration Project”, the capstone course for Master’s Degree candidates who are interested in pursuing careers as professional chaplains.  Kathy’s students have appreciated her “insightful guidance and encouragement”, “helpful feedback” and her assistance in “broadening their perspectives” during the three years she has been an adjunct instructor at IPS.
