Mission and Goals

Mission

LUC INSPIRED aims to promote the inclusion and equity of women, underrepresented minority, and women of color STEM faculty at Loyola University Chicago. Through a series of programs and events, LUC INSPIRED will create a framework to invest in the social, emotional, and professional well-being of university faculty. Together, the efforts work toward reducing institutional and systemic factors that impede diverse faculty groups on campus.

Goals

The goals and targeted outcomes of the proposed LUC-INSPIRED (Inclusive Practices in the Retention and Equity of Diverse Faculty) ADVANCE Adaptation initiatives are to:

Goal 1

Provide a network of professional support and improve the retention of women, underrepresented minorities (URM), and women of color (WoC) faculty.

Goal 2

Provide pathways for professional growth for women, URM and WoC faculty in STEM fields to address gender and racial disparities in full professors and senior administration.

Goal 3

Create policies to mitigate gender and racial faculty workload inequities by working with deans and department chairs to adjust practices and procedures that maintain uneven labor practices.

Goal 4

Create an institutional culture of interdisciplinary connection to enhance the cultural climate and combat social and professional isolation often experienced by women, URM, and WoC faculty in STEM fields.
